INTRODUCTION

The article that I choose in my assignment is Yes: New Tools Let Students Learn More, and More Deeply, which is written by Lisa Nielsen. This article is published on 10th of May in 2015. This article gives a lot of examples on the benefits of frequent technology use in studying. She is The Innovative Educators who become a public school educator that help in changing the way of education when she found the school was boring and irrelevant. She shared the innovative way to prepare students in the real-world and become successful. She takes a good response towards the applications of technology and she believes it can become an advantage to us if we use it wisely.
Lisa Nielsen serves as the director of digital engagement and professional learning and has been recognized for her work receiving awards such as Teacher Of The Year by her district and an award as a recipient of International Society of Technology Educator’s. In this article, Lisa Nielsen emphasis on how the technology application can bring advantages in educational field. Nowadays, students or teachers no longer use the traditional platforms such as pencils or old-school paper in the classroom. But they use the application of technology and the digital platforms such as Microsoft Excel to convert their work into a creative presentation. They also can use appropriate videos in exploring a certain concept to be clearer and easier to understand. In other words, either teachers or students can grab the advantage of the application of technology in order to complete their assessments.

Yes: New Tools Let Students Learn More, and More Deeply
Lisa Nielsen underlined that technology will allow the students to gain access to world class resources and experts when doing their assignments or just for self knowledge. If they can use the tools correctly, they can surf for any information that will bring benefits to them and gain worldwide knowledge. The knowledge of the world is wider with the technology but what should we learn?

The teachers need to be alerted and know all the application of technology before they deliver the knowledge to their students. Therefore, with the guidance of teachers, the students will complete their tasks and interacting in the proper channel. Remind from the old school’s teaching and learning methods, students always accompanied by textbooks, discussion based on the passage given and go under tests or answer the quizzes at the end of the class. But now, when technology is introduced, teachers and students can take this opportunity to learn and appreciate the effective learning tools.

New generation of technology included pictures, public records and videos can implanted a new and effective way of learning. For examples, by the use of pictures, students can understand better when studying maps. Besides, teachers and students also can share or publish their work on social-media so that, teaching and learning can be interactive in technology platforms. Sites that often used to publish or share works included blogs, Facebook pages, Twitter and certain feedback Microsoft websites. The distribution of ideas can easily tracked by other viewers to reply with tons of opinios.

Then, not only teachers and students can interact or changing opinion when an idea is published in the media, but all viewers from worldwide also can share their opinion and reply the answer from the blogger. Lisa Nielsen claimed that, using the digitals in the classroom does not mean the students are texting their friends, chatting on the phone or playing video games. They might be sharing information in certain online groups or passing some notes which is important in study.

The teachers also often to use these online media in educational use. For the example, teachers will choose to deliver the time table for classes or important notes through group in social media application such as Facebook and Whatapps, rather than call all of his students by phone that may end up with a pricey mobile phone bills. Teachers may want to ask about their students of their reflection or outcome of the learning process. Instead of spending time discussing in the class, it is better for them to channel their ideas through groups.

The skills of texting also will build the literacy skills as they text often. Anyway, teachers need to train them well before the students exposed to technology. Teachers must find the best way to manage students when they are using digital services so that it will be avoided from the possibility of misuse the application provided. Device provides tons of access to information and the information may far beyond what the school can offer so one should know how to access the facts and the true information.

CONCLUSION
Last but not least, Lisa Nielsen introduced top 10 of technology blogs for education to look forward and getting to know better that knowledge that we do not know. Thus, we can easily choose the sites which are providing a wealth of information on how to enhance the educational process with the best way. For example, students can surf an educational blog such as Around The Corner blogspot to adapt more knowledge.

Generally, technology application in educational use brings a lot of benefits in the scope of knowledge, teaching and learning process. It is an easy application that can adapt by everyone and the internet appliance also act as the platforms of varieties of knowledge. Nowadays, there is a lot of useful gadget in the market that we can use for a long life learning purpose. The school-based technology programs will succeed with the support and encouragement of the school administrators.

By integrating technology in the process of teaching and learning, surely it will bring a lot of benefits and will help the students to improve their technology skills. Through technology, it can offer many activities that help students to develop higher level of thinking skills and it can be the brain booster for students and teachers. The type of quizzes that follow up by different level also can match one’s ability when doing same brain exercise of self knowledge tests.
