WAR HORSE

Steven Spielberg has described his production of new movie, War Horse, as a love story. From my point of view, ‘War House’ is a movie that built with the sense of memory and love which I think is the most important elements in the storyline. Albert meets Joey, the war horse, since it was born and he keeps remembering the birth of the beauty creature. Sometimes, when we are in love with something, we will install the important events in our memory and keep remembering it naturally. The meaning of love actually is the same for everyone in which, everyone will protect what they love and even willing to sacrifice themselves for it. The first ‘love’ element can be showed by the bonding between Joey and its mother. When Joey is forced to separate from its mother, it tries to fight against the human and hopes to stay with its mother. The shows, feeling of love definitely not only just applies in human but also occur in the bonding between animals. Even though love is an abstract feeling that cannot be seen, but it can be seen through actions as we will always try to protect what we love.

Next, Albert and Joey show the close bonding between them after Albert does the first move to obtain Joey’s trust. Albert is willing to sign up for war to find his beloved horse, Joey. The touching scene in this movie occur when Albert senses Joey is near to him, when he is at the military camp, even though he is not be able to see anything but he tries to call Joey by whistling. In addition, Joey recognized the whistle sound even though it has been through a lot of hardships while Albert remembers every detailed of Joey’s physical appearance. Telepathy seems is an unbelievable and most of the people will think, it does not happen in real life. Sometimes I realize, telepathy happened in most of the urgent times especially between twins, siblings or even between parents and their children. Telepathy is not the kind of sixth sense but sometimes it happened when we really care about something sincerely and totally understand the characteristic of something that we care. For example, mother can always be able to sense what will happen to their child or know what do their children what.

The love element also can be sensed between Emilie and her grandfather. Emilie’s grandpa really loves her and even willing to tell lies to protect her. For Emilie, grandpa has played his roles as her parents and raised her up with a lot of care. Furthermore, grandpa is willing to sell off his farm just to win Joey, which is her granddaughter’s favourite horse at auction. He wants to win Joey because he just wants to remember Emilie, who has died because of illnesses. With the greatest love between family members, we will do everything we can to protect the person we care and the memory that we have. With the support and comfort from them, we are able to holding on while doing hard task. The bonding between Emilie and her grandfather reminds me of my grandfather too. Because I grow up in a single parent’s family, so grandpa put a lot of love to me as compared to his other grandchildren. He is not a wealthy person but he will throw out his efforts to gain what I desire for, when I was still a child. Even though he didn’t say out loud that he really loves me but I can feel his sincere from his actions and through his sacrificial in time that he spent with me. From my perspective, true love can be shown when we spend more time with each other and create valuable memories. However, sometimes we will forget to appreciate everything around us because we think it is just an ordinary matter and we will take it for granted. Thus, before too late, we need to learn to appreciate the nature and everyone that we care and love.

In conclusion, I have learnt a lot of valuable lessons to take into account through this movie. We must remember to appreciate the things around us and treat them with care. As we know, time flies and never stops running. So, unknowingly, actually our precious time to spend with our beloved one is actually always ticking towards the limitation of our lifetime. We must aware of that and think positively to do everything that we will never regret within the limitation of time. For the example, we build more valuable memories with them and treat them with care and think of them as a part of ourselves. Even though it is abstract and cannot be seen, but appreciation of memory and love is the most valuable things that keep guiding human to have passion and spirit towards reaching goals in life.
