LAYOUT OF ARKED MERANTI
An
appropriate layout for every building is very important to attract the customers.
Generally, Arked Meranti has 3 entrances namely front entrance, and 2 side
entrances. These entrances are the first impression of Arked Meranti because
they allows customers to enter easily from every side. Arked Meranti is double storey
building which consists of food stalls on the first floor and printing workshop
on the second floor. Layout in Arked Meranti is focusing on the
number of stalls. The layout is used to maximize the number of stalls. The
number of stalls in Arked Meranti reached 8 stalls in total, including 2
beverages stalls. Each stall is organized properly in the evaluation of size,
length and width. The stalls, except beverages stalls, provides self-service
area to ease the customers to choose their food. The food displayed facilities
are clean and easily to manage. The arrangement of the tables and chairs also
managed in a proper manner. There are some distances between the tables and
enough spaces to pass through the tables easily. The tables and chairs provided
are easily to be cleaned. Furthermore, cutlery sets are provided and customers
need to take their own cutlery sets from the place provided.
The sinks are located at the both ends of the building.
The place for food scraps and place to put the used plate are provided near the
sinks. The hand washing facilities are provided with clean running water and
located not far from all the stalls. The electrical appliances such as lights
and fans also function properly. Two sets of television are provided to
entertain the customers when they are having their meals. The rest room is
provided for the customer. It located at the end of the side entrance of Arked
Meranti. Next, Arked Meranti also provided parking lot for customers who drive.
The layout of the parking lot is flexible enough for all size of cars.
A distilled water supply machine is provided. On the
wall, there are some posters about eating in healthy habits and energy
requirements that acquired by the body are provided. Arked Meranti is the only
food store that emphasis on the use of own container instead of plastic bags.
This can be counted as the one of the effort in reducing the use of plastics in
food industry. Almost all the stalls prepared full food labeling prices.
However, the parking lots does not provide enough places as
the peak hour of the arked is on lunch time and this can disrupt the customers
especially under the hot sun. Almost all the stalls do not provide enough space
for paying purpose. Sometimes, the one who wish to do some payments for his/her
food will bump with the one who want to choose on some food. This is because
the size of the stalls is limited so whether in or out, the students will use
the same path.
As a conclusion, layout of Arked Meranti is quite
satisfying because of the main and side entrances and people are free to choose
food. The space between every table also large enough and ease for the
customers to move especially during packed time.
